Before you get in touch

The rules in Scotland are a little different. A death in Scotland should be registered within 8 days where possible, at any registration office in Scotland. The registrar will need the medical certificate of cause of death. It helps to bring their birth and marriage certificates and NHS card. Your council's website has details of local offices.
