A free GOV.UK service. It tells most government departments at once, including HMRC, DWP, DVLA, the Passport Office and the council. Use the reference number the registrar gives you.

A free service set up by UK banks and building societies. It tells many of them at once.

Free. Stops junk mail and marketing post in their name.

Before you get in touch

If a child or the parent claiming Child Benefit has passed away, call the HMRC Bereavement Helpline or write to the Child Benefit Office. Skip this if you used Tell Us Once. Have your name, National Insurance number, and the person's name, date of birth and date of death. If you now care for the children, make a new claim.
