Before you get in touch

In Northern Ireland, call the Bereavement Service to report a death to the Department for Communities. They tell each office that paid the person benefits, and check if you can get Bereavement Support Payment or help with funeral costs. Have their date of birth, date of death, National Insurance number and a list of their benefits ready.
