A free GOV.UK service. It tells most government departments at once, including HMRC, DWP, DVLA, the Passport Office and the council. Use the reference number the registrar gives you.

A free service set up by UK banks and building societies. It tells many of them at once.

Free. Stops junk mail and marketing post in their name.

Before you get in touch

If your husband, wife or civil partner has passed away, you may be able to get extra State Pension based on what they paid in. Call the Pension Service to ask. To stop the person's own State Pension, use Tell Us Once or the DWP Bereavement Service instead.
