Before you get in touch

A student loan is cancelled when the person passes away, and no one else has to pay it. Call or write to the Student Loans Company. They will ask for the customer reference number if you have it. You'll also need to send the original death certificate, or an original coroner's interim certificate. They can't cancel the loan without it.
