No bereavement line that we could find

We looked for a bereavement contact for Proton and could not find one. As far as we know, they don't have one. So here is their general customer contact instead. When you get through, say you are contacting them about someone who has passed away, and ask to be put through to the right team.

Emergency Access: on paid Proton plans, the account holder can name up to five emergency contacts (who need their own Proton Mail address) and set a waiting period after which a request for access is granted.

Before you get in touch

Proton accounts are fully encrypted, so family can usually only get in if the person who passed away set up Emergency Access. If they named you as an emergency contact, ask for access from your own Proton account. Access comes after the waiting period they chose. If not, Proton offers family no way in.
