A free GOV.UK service. It tells most government departments at once, including HMRC, DWP, DVLA, the Passport Office and the council. Use the reference number the registrar gives you.

Before you get in touch

You can tell Railcards about a death using their online form. Choose the bereavement option and give the details they ask for, and they will delete the person's data. Railcards can't be refunded once issued, so there is no money to claim back.

Checked on 27 September 2026 against National Railcards's own page. Numbers do change now and then, so if one doesn't work, their page is the best place to look.

Other travel
