A free GOV.UK service. It tells most government departments at once, including HMRC, DWP, DVLA, the Passport Office and the council. Use the reference number the registrar gives you.

Before you get in touch

You can tell USS by calling their Bereavement Team. If the person was still paying in, their family may get a lump sum and a pension. If they had left or retired, loved ones may still be due the benefits they built up. USS will explain the next steps.
