A free GOV.UK service. It tells most government departments at once, including HMRC, DWP, DVLA, the Passport Office and the council. Use the reference number the registrar gives you.

Before you get in touch

To tell Scottish Friendly about a death, download their bereavement claim form, fill it in and post it back. There's a separate form for pension policies. Send a copy of the death certificate and the original policy documents if you have them. If you have questions about what they need, you can call them.
