A free GOV.UK service. It tells most government departments at once, including HMRC, DWP, DVLA, the Passport Office and the council. Use the reference number the registrar gives you.

Before you get in touch

You can tell the RSPCA about a death by phone, email or post. Give the person's name and address, and any membership or supporter number. They will update their records so any regular gift or membership stops. You can also cancel a Direct Debit through the person's bank.

Other charities and regular giving

Most of the time this takes goes on working out what the person had and who to call. When you are ready, Inherit Vault is where you can write that down for your own family, kept private until it is needed.
