A free GOV.UK service. It tells most government departments at once, including HMRC, DWP, DVLA, the Passport Office and the council. Use the reference number the registrar gives you.

Before you get in touch

If you are a relative or solicitor, call Power NI and choose option 3, and the team will guide you. Have your own details, the account holder's name and address, a recent meter reading and the date they passed away. Usually you won't need a copy of the death certificate to close the account.
