Before you get in touch

You can get in touch with Orbit to let them know. If it was a joint tenancy, it's likely to pass automatically into the survivor's name. Someone else living there may be able to take over the tenancy, called succession, and Orbit will ask for the death certificate and evidence of the relationship.
