A free GOV.UK service. It tells most government departments at once, including HMRC, DWP, DVLA, the Passport Office and the council. Use the reference number the registrar gives you.

Before you get in touch

To stop a regular gift to the NSPCC after a death, contact their Supporter Care team using their online enquiry form. Have the person's name and address ready. You can also cancel a Direct Debit through the person's bank.

Checked on 27 September 2026 against NSPCC's own page. Numbers do change now and then, so if one doesn't work, their page is the best place to look.

Other charities and regular giving

Most of the time this takes goes on working out what the person had and who to call. When you are ready, Inherit Vault is where you can write that down for your own family, kept private until it is needed.
