A free GOV.UK service. It tells most government departments at once, including HMRC, DWP, DVLA, the Passport Office and the council. Use the reference number the registrar gives you.

Before you get in touch

The online route is NotifyNOW, a service run by their bereavement partner Phillips & Cohen. Give your details and how you are related, plus the person's name, address, date of birth and date of death. Lendable then stops letters and starts settling the loan.
