Encrypted before it reaches us

Your vault is locked in your browser. We keep no key that can open it. Nobody at Inherit Vault can read it, and nor could anyone who hacked us.

Released only after checks

Nothing is released on its own. Your executor must send us the death certificate and their own photo ID, and we check both. Then there is a 14-day wait, so a false claim can be stopped. Even then, your executor needs the phrase from your printed Recovery Certificate to read anything.

Hosted in the EU

Your data sits on our own servers in Germany. It is locked before it gets there, so the servers only ever hold vaults they cannot read.

Common questions

What happens if I cancel?

On the monthly and annual plans you can cancel any time from your account. Your vault becomes read-only, not deleted. We keep your data for a while so you can come back. Lifetime never renews and never ends.

How does release work?

Your executor logs in and sends us the death certificate and their own photo ID. We check them. After a 14-day wait the vault unlocks, but it is still locked with your phrase. Your executor needs the phrase from your printed Recovery Certificate to read it.

What happens to my data if the company closes?

We hold no key that can read your vault, so nobody else gets in if we close. Every owner is sent their locked vault file. A free offline tool opens it with your recovery phrase.
