Delete your Inherit Vault account

This page explains how to delete your account and vault in Inherit Vault, the app published by Inherit Vault Ltd, and exactly what is erased and what is kept.

How to delete your account

1. In the app or on the website, sign in to Inherit Vault.
   Use the account you want to close. Deletion is only ever available to the person who can sign in.
2. Open Account Settings.
   On a phone, tap your initials at the top right, then Account Settings. On a computer it is in the same place.
3. Choose "Close my account".
   It is the last section on that page.
4. Confirm with your password, your authenticator code, and the tick box.
   Two factors plus an explicit acknowledgement, deliberately: a stolen password alone must never be able to destroy a family's vault.

The closure is immediate and cannot be reversed, by you or by us. If you would rather we did it for you, email support@inheritvault.com from the address on the account and we will action it within 30 days.

What is deleted

• Your vault and every entry in it, including the encrypted contents and the keys.
• Your name, email address, phone number, address and account profile.
• Your executors, their invitations and their access. They can no longer open anything.
• Your check-in history, beneficiaries, family members and notifications.
• Your saved devices, biometric unlock and two-factor secrets.

What is kept, and for how long

• Billing records (invoices and payment records, not card numbers): 6 years, because UK tax law requires it.
• Security audit events: kept in an append-only log with your identifiers removed, so the trail shows an account was closed without showing whose.

Nothing from inside your vault is kept. We could not read it while you had it and we do not hold a copy after.

Deleting some of your data without closing your account

You can delete any individual vault entry yourself at any time, from the entry itself. For anything else, email support@inheritvault.com and say what you want removed. We respond within one month.

One thing only you can do

If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, only the store can stop the payment. Closing your account here does not cancel it. Cancel the subscription in your device's own subscription settings as well, or it will keep renewing.
