The letter

Before you get in touch

Tell them as soon as you can, in whatever way feels easiest. You can call or email. They will ask for written confirmation of the date the person passed away, and an original or certified copy of the death certificate. Registering the death comes first, usually within 5 days, so have that in hand before you get in touch.
